SailEver DataField Film — Script¶
30 seconds · 16:9 · no voiceover · for sailever.com/datafield
Animatic (open in a browser): apps/server/docs/web-redesign/films/datafield-animatic.html. The website's film module is built from it (apps/server/lib/films/build_film_modules.py).
Production rules, capture process and export are shared with the WatchApp film: see product-film-script.md.
1. Story¶
One idea: Garmin's data grid doesn't show enough while sailing, so you replace it with one free field that gives you a full sailing screen. The film walks the screen two metrics at a time, then shows it whole. No logbook, no pairing: that's the WatchApp film.
2. Format¶
| Length | 30 s, hard limit |
| Master | 3840×2160, 16:9, 60 fps |
| Optional cut | 9:16, ~15 s (shots 01, 03, 06, 08) |
| Sound | Music + SFX, no voiceover. Same music family as the WatchApp film, shorter edit |
| Text | Titles only, no explanation lines. EN and DE first |
| Music grid | 120 BPM → 1 bar = 2 s |
| Device | fenix7pro (MIP), Garmin's own Sailing activity with the SailEver DataField as a full-screen field |
3. Script¶
Callouts draw in from the metric to a label beside the watch. Each topic's lines fade out completely before the next topic starts, so the screen never clutters as the film goes on.
| # | Time | On screen (simulator capture) | Title | Sound |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | 0:00–0:04 | Cold open. Push-in on the fēnix 7 Pro. Garmin's data grid with four default fields (timer, speed, distance, heart rate). | GARMIN'S GRID NOT GIVING YOU ENOUGH WHILE SAILING? | Pad and ticking hi-hat |
| 02 | 0:04–0:08 | One field instead. The grid is replaced by the SailEver DataField, which fills the whole screen. | REPLACE IT WITH ONE DATAFIELD. | Whoosh on the page change. Kick enters at 0:04 |
| 03 | 0:08–0:11 | Callouts: SOG and speed curve. | SPEED AND ITS LAST 3 MINUTES. | |
| 04 | 0:11–0:14 | A tack happens: top-left shows the angle (e.g. -92°). Callouts: tack angle and COG. |
TACK ANGLES AND COURSE. | Plucked melody enters |
| 05 | 0:14–0:17 | Callouts: distance and average speed (Ø). | DISTANCE AND AVERAGE. | |
| 06 | 0:17–0:21 | The barometer trend arrow goes from blue (steady) to yellow, then red, pointing down. Callouts: pressure and trend arrow. | A STORM WARNING BUILT IN. | Music ducks for one bar |
| 07 | 0:21–0:24 | Callouts: position (lat/lon), clock and timer. | POSITION, CLOCK AND TIMER. | Groove back, lift |
| 08 | 0:24–0:27 | Hold on the full field, no callouts. | 13 METRICS. ONE SCREEN. | Snare roll over the last bar |
| 09 | 0:27–0:30 | End card. SailEver logo, small fēnix 7 Pro with the field, Connect IQ badge. | SAILEVER DATAFIELD. FREE. / sailever.com/datafield. Small line: Want a logbook too? Try the SailEver WatchApp. | Resolve at 0:28 |
The 13 metrics, as on the /datafield page: SOG, speed curve, tack/jibe angle, COG, average speed, distance, pressure, pressure trend, latitude, longitude, clock, timer, GPS and battery status.
4. Notes for capture¶
- Use the current Connect IQ Store release of the DataField, inside the simulator's Sailing activity.
- Shot 04 needs a real tack in the GPS simulation so the angle appears.
- Shot 06: lower pressure step by step in Activity Data until the arrow goes yellow and then red. Record in real time, cut down in the edit.
- Don't copy Garmin's activity UI or logo into overlays. What Garmin draws in the capture stays as captured.
