Purpose¶
A low-power standby screen for a paused track, for a lunch stop or a night at anchor. The GPS is off and the screen is almost all black, so the battery lasts. The sailor sees the time, the battery and how long the pause has run, and gets back to recording with one input.
What a pause does to the track and its files: lifecycle.md.
Layout¶
The screen is black. Positions are fractions of screen width (x) and height (y). All text is centred horizontally and vertically on its y unless stated.

Refresh¶
The screen redraws every 10 s, enough to keep the clock and the duration minute-accurate with almost no CPU use. Nothing else on it changes.
Input¶
One input resumes the track; everything else is ignored, so a bumped button never ends or changes the track. Details: input.md.
| Platform | Resumes | Ignored |
|---|---|---|
| Garmin | START/STOP | BACK and every other key |
After resuming, the recording screen returns on the instrument page shown before the pause.
Garmin¶
- The view is pushed when Pause Track is chosen and stays until resumed. The app keeps running in the foreground.
- If the theme is not loaded yet, the time falls back to
FONT_LARGE. - If the app is closed while paused, the next launch shows
Resume trackin the start menu instead of this view (lifecycle.md).
Wear OS¶
No pause view. A Wear OS app records from the background, so it does not need to stay open as a standby screen: Pause Track sends the app to the background and the watch face returns. The start menu's Resume track carries on (lifecycle.md).
Apple Watch¶
⏳ The pause view follows the Always-On / reduced-luminance style (isLuminanceReduced): black screen, time, battery, paused (port plan).
States and edge cases¶
- Pause longer than 99 hours: the hour part grows to three digits.
- Battery level unknown: shown as
0%with an empty icon. - 12-hour clock: midnight and noon show as
12.
Known deviations¶
None known.
